TIM Campbell helps everyday people win cash, but he reads about his own fortunes in the tabloids and magazines.
The new Million Dollar Wheel of Fortune host has had just about every personal titbit written about him from his relationship with pop star Anthony Callea to criticism over his designer stubble. The latest headlines claimed that Baby John Burgess said Campbell "was no game-show host" and the show lacked warmth. However, Campbell has learnt not to take the allegations or himself too seriously."It's great what I do, but it isn't that important," he told The Word yesterday."People are entitled to their opinions. I'm not the first to get things written about me, good or bad."He said there were definitely no hard feelings between him and "Burgo" and given the chance, he would have the former Wheel host on the show as a celebrity guest. While one might assume the last thing Campbell would want to do is read gossip, he said he was yet to stop reading the tabloids altogether."I'm big enough and strong enough to read it," he said.Campbell will host celebrity Million Dollar Wheel all this week with special guests such as Bert Newton, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Dawn Fraser and John Wood. Each night they will spin the Million Dollar Wheel and have the chance to win cash for the charity of their choice. The first jackpot winner on the game show was Newcastle law student Carl Young who picked up $200,000 earlier this month.Yesterday, Campbell hinted that one celebrity will equal, if not better, Young's win."Carl's win was great because he was a uni student and didn't have much cash. However, the money the celebrities win benefits a charity so that's good too," Campbell said. Each night from 5.30pm on NBN, three celebrities go head-to-head behind the wheel.Tonight's celebrities are Nicole Livingstone, John Wood and Denise Drysdale.
