Robber's Dna Link To Crime

A MAN whose DNA was found at the scene of a service station robbery, in which lollipops, cigarettes and cash were stolen, pleaded guilty yesterday to the 2006 offence.
Newcastle Local Court heard 20-year-old Tahi Puru, of Munibung Road, Cardiff, was picked up on an arrest warrant after police stopped him over a traffic matter on January 31.His solicitor said yesterday that while his recollections of the break and enter were "vague", he accepted the police facts.Officers went to the Metro Service Station at Tarro on December 28, 2006 after a break and enter in which the front door had been smashed,A thief had removed a safe containing $1257, six cartons of cigarettes valued at $450 and Chupa Chup lollipops to a value of $18.55.Crime scene officers took samples of a red stain left on a service desk and DNA from the sample was matched to Puru. He was charged with break, enter and steal.The matter was adjourned to next Tuesday.
