Gun, Drugs Found In Prison Grounds

A LOADED pistol, cash and ecstasy tablets were allegedly found in a vehicle in the grounds of Cessnock Correctional Centre yesterday.
Three men were arrested and taken to Maitland police station, where one was charged with possession of a firearm and goods in custody following the search of the vehicle inside the jail's grounds at 9.30am.Another man was charged with importing drugs into jail grounds, possession of a prohibited substance and goods in custody, while a third was released without charge.Police said the men had intended to visit an inmate in the prison when they were stopped by correctional services officers.
