IF the Hawks are so short of cash, how did they manage to sign Aaron Trahair?
The veteran guard was wasting away on the Perth bench before Hawks coach Eric Cooks set the wheels in motion with Trahair's agent Geoff McGuire. But the battling Hawks would not have been in the hunt without Illawarra businessman Ross Tory's input. The LBJ Tours proprietor dipped into his own pocket to help bring Trahair to the Hawks."We didn't have the money to do it before Ross stepped up to the plate," Hawks board director Richard Clifford said."He effectively subsidised it." Trahair didn't do anything wrong in his Wollongong debut against Townsville and is sure to hit his share of big shots over his team's final 11 games.
